Smokey Quartz is a variety of quartz distinguished by its translucent brown to deep gray-black coloration. Its color forms naturally when clear quartz is exposed to radiation from surrounding rocks over long geological periods, which alters the crystal's structure. The shade can range from light, misty brown to very dark, almost opaque tones.
